The Chair
Come, take my place on that chair
Rule my life but please be fair
Make your laws and make us obey
It's for our good, well that is what they say
Go, speak on my behalf in that place
I appointed you to run my race
All my dreams are in your hands
To guard and replenish my land
Do, what is right on our behalf
Stand tall and lead thy people with thy staff
Protect us from the enemy without
Only, bread and water we ask, in times of drought
Make our dreams yours
Isn't that what you spoke?
Promises you made before you sat on the chair
But something about it has made us despair
It was only yesterday that you sat on that chair
You have sucked us dry and divided us beyond repair
The power we gave you was to enrich our lives
Yes we all dreamed of better times
Do people change when they sit on that chair?
Is there anyone worthy to take up my prayer?
We will drive you out from our midst
Yet we know another villain will take your place
